Exercise Bikes & Cycles

Exercise bikes are an affordable and highly effective training option to introduce into your home gym. Cycling is a low impact exercise which will help you develop stamina, build muscle, burn calories and help you lose weight. Exercise cycles are easy on your joints, so a great option if you’re looking for an alternative to running, to build your cardiovascular fitness from the convenience of your own home.

With compact options like the Active 100 Exercise Bike or bestselling Active 110 Exercise Bike you can easily add an effective and challenging cardio workout even when space is a premium.

Our range of exercise bikes come in three categories;

Upright Bikes offer the normal sitting position we all associate with cycling. These are the most popular bikes as they tend to take up the least space and are the easiest to move around.

Recumbent Bikes have a reclined seat with back support which provides a lower intensity ride with increased comfort. Recumbent Bikes are ideal for rehabilitation from injury or where support is required for the lower back and abdominals.

Indoor Exercise Cycles are ideal for interval training and performance work. They are the closest thing to a real cycling experience at home. The riding position will feel the most natural if you’re a keen cyclist and want to train further at home.

Things to Consider before purchasing

User Weight

One of the most important and often overlooked factors is your current weight. For the equipment to be safe, reliable and give you the optimum workout resistance you need to be under the max user weight stipulated by the product. If you require a sturdier machine the increased early investment will be rewarded by highly effective workouts and ensure you remain within our warranty terms.

Product Size and Weight

Whether you have a room dedicated as a home gym or looking to work out in the bedroom or lounge you can find dimensions and weights in the product descriptions to guide you. Ensure you have room for the bike to operate without obstruction and enough space to mount from the side. Upright exercise cycles are the most versatile due to their more compact design and can be moved easily when not in use. Larger models will have transport wheels making it easy to relocate your exercise location.

Resistance and Flywheel

The upright and recumbent bikes feature quiet magnetic resistance which is easily controlled using the console buttons. Indoor Training Bikes use a manual adjustment to change the resistance by a knob located on the top tube.

Heavier flywheels create more momentum offering a more realistic resistance whilst providing a smooth and realistic motion.

Seat and Handlebar Adjustment

Just like cycling on the road it is important to have a comfortable and effective riding position on your home exercise bike. All York Fitness bikes come with adjustable handlebars and seats to ensure the optimum position can be found.
